Under 18s vs Whitkirk
By Jason Bradley
Barwick Under 18's played there first game away at Whitkirk, Barwick lost the toss and bowled first.
A good opening spell from Oliver Tumilty and Sam Hallas was followed by great spin bowling from Will Bradley who finished with 3 for 13 and Jamie Lockett 2 for 11 and some notable fielding from Taylor O'Neil and Jamie Lockett restricted Whitkirk to 102 for 5.
Barwick in reply batted fantastically, Sanjeev Virdi opened the batting magnificently and a captains knock from Ewan Hardy retiring on 50, including two big sixes saw Barwick close in on the Whitkirk total. We needed 6 off the last over to win, new batsmen Taylor O'Neil came to the crease in the now fading light, and Barwick needed 3 off the last ball to win, Sanjeev managed to hit 2 to tie the game, finishing on 42 not out. Barwick closed on 102 for 1.
An outstanding display and a big thank you to all the players and parents.
